Extraction involves removing a tooth, usually because of some disease, trauma or because teeth are presented at an inappropriate distance from others.

When is it necessary to extract the teeth?

•  In the presence of advanced caries
• For an infection that has destroyed a large part of the tooth or bone in its surroundings.
• When there is not enough room for all teeth

I recommend extracting retained teeth that only appear partially, because bacteria stagnate around these teeth and cause infections, which can eventually spread to the bone and be extremely serious, and can also end up damaging the roots of adjacent teeth.

The removal of a retained tooth prevents infections, damage to other nearby teeth, and worse than the bone that supports it and prevents it from spreading further, and eventually prevents pain in the future.

How are teeth extracted?

1. An x-ray to detect the length, shape, position of the piece to be extracted and visualization of the bone that surrounds it.
2. The area around the tooth to be extracted is anesthetized before extraction.
3. With the help of an elevator, the piece to be removed is loosened.
4. Using dental forceps removes the tooth.
5. Once the piece is removed, it is decided if it is necessary to close the space after the extraction with a suture.
